How do I start?
Open the Live tab and tap the microphone. Choose the language to translate into on the right of the language
bar; leave the left side on "Detect Language" or pick the language being spoken.
Detect Language picks the wrong language.
On-device detection listens for a few languages only. Tap the "Detecting among …" line under the language bar
(or Settings › Detect Among) and add the language you expect to hear — or choose it explicitly.
Translation doesn't work offline.
Apple's on-device translation needs the language downloaded once: Settings › Offline Languages.
Some language pairs aren't available on-device; add an online translation service in Settings › Services.
How are speakers identified?
On-device, from each voice's characteristics. It works best with distinct voices and full sentences. Long-press
a sentence to change its speaker, or tap a speaker label in History to rename it. Deepgram, if you add it,
identifies speakers in the cloud.
Summaries are just a few sentences from the conversation.
Without Apple Intelligence (or an AI service), summaries pick the key sentences. On devices with Apple
Intelligence, or with an AI service selected under Settings › Engines › Summaries, you get written recaps.
How do I use my own AI service?
Settings › Services › Add Service, pick a provider, paste your API key, then choose it for Speech Recognition,
Translation or Summaries under Settings › Engines. Keys stay in your device's Keychain.
Can I use a server on my network (Ollama, LM Studio)?
Yes: add "Ollama / LM Studio" and set the base URL to your computer's address, e.g.http://192.168.1.20:11434/v1. iOS will ask for local network access.
Where is my data?
On your device only, unless you add an online service. See the Privacy Policy.
